(SAN ANTONIO, June 4) – The San Antonio Athenians faced off against the SA Runners Saturday night in the first edition of the Riverwalk Rivalry. As defending UWS Southwest champions, the Athenians came into the match as favorites, and they lived up to the moniker with a dominant display.

Sierra Wannamaker scored on an assist from Jessi Reinhardt in the 10th minute and Jillian Martinez scored on another Reinhardt assist in the 20th minute. The Runners’ best opportunity came in the 43rd minute when Allison Fahey struck the bar, but any momentum for the visitors was immediately squashed when Wannamaker struck again on an assist from Jillian Martinez just 2 minutes into the second half.

From there, Wannamaker completed her hat trick in the 61st minute and Keeley Ayala got off the mark, scoring her first Athenians goal in the 86th minute. Jessi Reinhardt finished the match with an incredible 4 assists and Wannamaker scored the second hat trick of the Athenians season, after Enzi Broussard did the same against Wilco FC on May 22.
