Boerne Girls Runner Up in Texas UIL 4A State Tournament

Boerne Girls faced two time UIL State 4A State Champion Celina Bobcats for a championship match at Birkelbach Field Georgetown ISD. In a thrilling final, the lady Greyhounds went one for one against a very tough Celina (26-1-2) .

In a thrilling 1-0 final, Boerne Lady Greyhounds went one for one throughout 90′ and never let up. Proving doubters wrong about the level of play ability to reach the final. Field conditions were hot with a mild win. The first half Boerne dominated with ball possession and taking shots at Celina keeper Kaitlyn Gustafson.

Boerne defense proved a tough match against a high scoring offense led by Jr FWD Grace Pritchard who ended up scoring the winning goal early in the second half on a double assist.

Fans traveled from Boerne, Texas to support the Lady Hounds who after three tries finally reached the Final. Keeper Kinsley Sawyer JR was outstanding throughout the tournament. Sadie Parker FWD JR played full out for the Hounds and kept the pressure on Bobcat defense. Defending for the Greyhounds was Jr Anna Darling who normally plays as a MF but defended the backfield and held the Bobcats to just one goal and limited their shots at goal. Overall the Lady Greyhounds played an outstanding match and have their sights on moving on to the tough 5A Conference with the likes of Smithson Valley, Alamo Heights and Comal Peiper.

Celina Bobcats soccer made history in securing its third consecutive class 4A state championship. After losing the the majority of the Seniors from the previous years, Celina made it to UIL State finals with a new class that is it to continue to be a powerhouse in 4A Girls UIL Soccer.
