Runners Rest During Bye Week, Await Part 2 of the Riverwalk Rivalry
The women’s San Antonio Runners SC were not in action this past weekend and will play again on June 17th at home versus the crosstown rival San Antonio Athenians in Part 2 of the Riverwalk Rivalry. While things did go the Runners SC way the first time around, with quality players like Allison Fahey, Jaycie Bass, Kalea Ajel and Raeann Garcia, the Runners SC will be looking to make their statement this weekend. Runners SC will also play the next three of four matches at home.
Athenians Set New Team Record for Margin of Victory in 9-0 Win vs CTX Hornets

(SAN ANTONIO) -The San Antonio Athenians continued their hot scoring streak in a 9-0, record-setting victory over CTX Hornets on Sunday at Soccer Central. The 4 first half goals included a penalty kick from Jillian Martinez and an eye-popping hat trick from Keeley Ayala. The home side kept the momentum going in the second half with goals from Jade Piper, Emma Bates, Sierra Wannamaker, and Tori Foster, who got her first two goals for the Athenians. 5 goals were scored by current or former UIW Cardinals, and multiple strikes will be up for goal of the week as the Athenians were excellent in their long-range shooting. The win concludes a home-heavy first half of the season and the Athenians will now be on the road for four straight games before returning home to conclude the season against Luxoria FC on July 8.

Blossoms in Bloom This Season, Looking to Stay Undefeated

The San Antonio Blossoms sit currently in third in the WPSL Red River Conference Southern Division and have yet to lose this season. Wins over SA Surf and Lonestar saw the Blossoms get a quick six points to start the season. A couple of tough draws in the rematch with crosstown rivals SA Surf and Corinthians SA FC have kept the Blossoms in contention for the top spot. Some players of note to keep an eye on are Forwards Sanai Stewart and Taylor Jernigan, Midfielder Rebecca Mays and Keepers Alaina Gilbert and Libby Brooker.
Corinthians SA FC Show Success Against Crosstown Rivals

Corinthians SA FC have four points to show in their three crosstown rivalry matches thus far this season. A 1-0 versus SA Surf and a 1-1 draw with the SA Blossoms. The Corinthians will have another opportunity for three points on Wednesday June 15th as they Blossoms again, this time at home in the friendly confines of SAN ANTONIO CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – HOTCHKISS MEMORIAL STADIUM. Surf Starting to Catch the Wave

A couple of tough losses saw SA Surf start 0-3-0 but have been able to gather points in each of the last three matches. A 2-2 draw with first place Challenge Red Devils, a 1-1 draw with Blossoms and the first win of the year, with a 3-1 victory over Corinthians SA FC. Players that are making an impact for SA Surf are midfielders Abby Kassel and Allyana Gonzalez, Forward Channing Broden and Keeper Melida Garza.
