SA College Soccer Weekly Update: 08.23.21

NCAA Division I

UIW Cardinals (Women’s Team)

UIW 1 – Texas State 2

The Cardinals opened up their season at home with Texas State at home. This was the only the second ever meeting between the two teams. It did not take long for the Cardinals to open up scoring when Sierra Wannamaker chipped the ball into the upper part of the net from just inside the 18 yard box. It was her 4th collegiate career goal after scoring three in her freshman season coming out of Madison HS. Cardinals maintained the lead until the 70yth minute when Olivia Wright took a shot on goal, Madison Humphry was able to rebound the block from Makenzie Hall and put it away to make it 1-1. With just three minutes left, the Bobcats got the match winner when Trinity Clark found the bottom right corner.

Makenzie Hall recorded five saves and Sierra Wannamaker lead with three shots on goal.

Matches this week: vs Grand Canyon, Aug 27 at 7:00 PM; vs California Baptist, Aug 29th at 1:00 PM

UIW Cardinals (Men’s Team)

Finished up the preseason this past weekend with a match up with Trinity University, it was the third ever meeting between the two. UIW came out on top 3-2.

The men look to start the regular season this week with a pair of matches in Houston at the HBU Tournament.

Matches this week: vs Florida Atlantic University, Aug 26 at 5:30 PM; vs St. Thomas (Minn.), Aug 29 at 5:30 PM

UTSA Roadrunners

Oklahoma State 2 – UTSA 0

After an undefeated preseason for the Roadrunners, going 2-0-1; they opened the regular season at #16 Oklahoma State. It was tough opener but the Roadrunners kept it competitive. OSU scored a goal in each half, a goal by Ally Jackson on a corner kick. Second Half goal came in the 78th minute from Gabriella Coleman from close range. Lexi Bolton led UTSA with three shots, two on goal and Jil Schneider recorded two saves.

Tulsa 0 – UTSA 3

The second match of the weekend found UTSA versus Tulsa in the Bancfirst Cowgirl Soccer Invitational in Stillwater. It was matched that was stopped for lightning in the second half and it was UTSA that thundered for three goals and a clean sheet victory with goals from Kendall Kloza in the 24th minute. After play resumed from the lightning delay, Ellis Patterson found the back of the net in the 67th minute and just one minute later Jordyn Hyland put it away for good.

Jil Schneider recorded three saves and the clean sheet. Kloza and Bolton led with three shots

Matches this week: vs California Baptist, Aug 26 at 7:00 PM; vs Grand Canyon, Aug 29 at 1:00 PM

NCAA Division II

St. Mary’s University Rattlers (Women’s Team)

The Rattlers are still in preseason mode and will face Schreiner University at home on Aug 25 at 7:00 PM and head to OLLU to face the Saints on Aug 27 at 4:00 PM

St. Mary’s University Rattlers (Men’s Team)

The Rattlers finish up their preseason with an exhibition versus Trinity University at home on Aug 27 at 5:00 PM.

NCAA Division III

Trinity University Tigers (Women’s Team)

Not in action until Sep 3rd

Trinity University Tigers (Men’s Team)

The Tigers continue the preseason as the face St. Mary’s on Friday.


OLLU Saints (Women’s Team)

The Saints also continue the preseason with a match over the weekend at Texas Lutheran and face St. Mary’s on Friday at home.

OLLU Saints (Men’s Team)

The Saints men’s team are in preseason mode with a pair of scrimmage matches versus Concordia last Saturday and Texas Lutheran at home on Monday Aug 23 at 4:00 PM.

Will not be in action this upcoming weekend.

Texas A&M-San Antonio Jaguars (Women’s Team)

First match of the 2021 campaign will be Tuesday Aug 24th, 1:00 Pm kickoff versus Arlington Baptist at home.

Texas A&M-San Antonio Jaguars (Men’s Team)

Looking for their first ever match on Tuesday Aug 24th at home versus Arlington Baptist at 3:00 PM.
