The San Antonio Athenians hosted WilCoFC on a muggy Tuesday night at Soccer Central.
It was a rematch from a match played at Round Rock just last Saturday and it was another tightly contested match.
The Athenians had thier first shot about three minutes in that sailed high. For WilCoFC, they were almost on the board in the the 4th minute when a shot rattled the crossbar but was cleared by the Athenians.
WilcoFC’s Brea Bittick found a break as the ball deflected off Jaime Erikson and was able to hit from about 12 yards out close to the penalty spot to score the first goal of the match in the 24th minute, giving the visitors the lead.
Athenians keeper Mia Wildeman made some great saves in the 28th and 30th minute to keep the match 1-0 until the half.
Second half saw some changes as Coach Melo made three substitutions at the break. Olivia Wright came in for Emma Durain, Paityn Brezter for Eden Brezter and Sarah Bayhi for Maggie Miller.
The Athenians were able to level it up on an own goal in the 50th minute as a cross deflected off WilCoFC defender Kyndahl Britton.
In the 58th minute the Athenians would take the lead on a cross from Olivia Wright from the left of the pitch to find Amanda Smith open by the far post. Smith would put it away from right in front of the goal.
The Athenians swept the home and home series with WilCoFC, both being tough matches.

The San Antonio Athenians (4-1-0, 12 PTS) will host Side FC 92 (2-0-1, 7 PTS) from Tulsa on Friday night June 11th, kick off at 7:30 PM. Athenians and Side FC 92 are currently one and two on top of the UWS Southwest Conference. The San Antonio Athenians will be looking to get three points to create some separation from the rest of the table.
