Copa Tejas 2021 for the USL Championship is entering Round Three in the competition of Texas clubs. RGVFC Toros got the first win of the campaign but it’s still early and look for things to heat up as the summer continues.
Austin Bold are the current Copa Tejas Champions, having won it in 2019. Unfortunately, no winner was declared in 2020 mainly due to the El Paso Locomotive playing in a different group and only played one match with a Texas club. This year all four Texas clubs are back in the Western Conference and same Division.
The 2021 Edition of the Copa Tejas got off to a quick start as RGV Toros FC have been involved in the first three rounds, San Antonio FC twice, El Paso has debuted while Austin Bold FC wait their turn to make some noise.
The Toros have a chance to capture six out of nine possible points when they face San Antonio FC this Saturday at Toyota FIeld. The Toros won round one in Edinburgh, 2-1. El Paso Locomotive took round 2 by defeating the Toros 1-0. A win by the Toros this weekend will give them a six point advantage over San Antonio FC and Austin Bold FC.
