Signing Day: HS soccer players around SA officially commit to Universities

LEE High School announced earlier this week four of their outstanding soccer players and student-athletes officially committed to Universities, three staying in San Antonio. With LEE making the announcement, here is the break down of all the soccer player student-athlete signings in San Antonio.

Girls Soccer

Alyssa Aultman – Brandeis (Committed to: Central Arkansas, 2019 record: 5-12-1)

Alyssa is listed as a forward and defender and is 5′ 6″ with a quick pace able to cover lots of ground and score goals. Will likely be an impact for Central Arkansas offensively.

Brianna Barrera – Boerne (Committed to: Sam Houston State, 2019 record: 7-11-1)

Scored 31 goals and had 32 assists as a junior and two time All-State honors, is a forward and midfielder. Like Alysaa Aultman, will play in the Southland Conference with UIW so we will be seeing both players in the future.

Khori Banks – Johnson (Committed to: Townson, 2019 record: 4-13-1)

Forward striker heading to Maryland and is a two sport student-athlete playing basketball and soccer. Is listed as 5′ 9″ giving her height advantage over most defenders.

Brittney Campa – LEE (Committed to UTSA, 2019 record: 8-8-1)

The Campa sisters are quickly becoming soccer royalty in San Antonio, having Marlyn playing in Liga MX femenil with Club America, Ana having a great career with UIW and now Brittney is next to add to the legacy by committing to UTSA, Brittney has 2 goals and 3 assists through 7 matches in 2020. As a midfielder, Brittney will add to a midfield Roadrunner corps that is improving with every incoming class.

Avery Chaney – Brandeis (Committed to Texas Tech, 2019 record: 15-4-3)

An outstanding student-athlete part of Lone Star and the U17 DA academy for the USWNT. Has an inspiring story overcoming injury and coming back to play soccer. Will join a Red Raider team that made it to the second round of the NCAA Championship. Is capable to take Texas Tech to the next level.

Ashlyn Fulgham– Boerne Champion (Committed to Columbia, 2019 record: 9-3-4)

A fearless defender committing to an Ivy League School; has one goal and eight assists through 24 games. Also a member of the Classic Elites

Jillian Martinez – Madison (Committed to UCLA, 2019 record: 18-5-1)

Jillian is having an out of this world season with the currently undefeated Madison Mavericks. Has 25 goals, 6 assists and looking for more. Her attack is making Madison a favorite to win the UIL 6A girls soccer State Title. Jillian was part of Lone Star academy and is part the DA, there is little doubt we will see Jillian suit up for the USWNT in the future. For now, she is committed to UCLA.

Samantha Nava – Madison (Committed to OLLU, 2019 record: 11-5-1)

Samantha is part of the Madison defense which has given up only 1 goal to date all season, and had contributed on offense with 1 goal and 2 assists so far in 2020. Sam is staying local and has committed to Our Lady of the Lake. The women’s team won the regular season conference championship and made it to the RRAC tournament final where they lost 1-0 to University of the Southwest.

Mia Salas – Brandeis (Committed to Houston Baptist, 2019 record: 3-15-0)

Mia is defender on Brandeis back line which has only given up 8 goals all season to date. Houston Baptist is looking to improve defensively, winning only 3 games last season.

Brooke Stevens – Johnson (Committ to Coe College, 2019 record: 8-8-2)

Brooke is a forward/striker with excellent dribble and touch on the ball, and finds the back of the net often.

Natalee Talley – Madison (Committed to Schreiner University, 2019 record: 5-12-3)

Midfielder has seven assists so far for an undefeated Madison team. Schreiner will be looking to improve the midfield after a 5 win season, Natalee will be a good addition to the team. Will get to visit San Antonio to play Trinity since both schools are in the same conference.

Jenna Townsley – Canyon (Committed to Concordia, 2019 record: 4-15-0)

Jenna will be heading just up the road from New Braunfels to Austin at Concordia. Is a defender on a Canyon squad currently undefeated in district play and given up only 6 goals so far this season.

Sierra Wannamaker – Madison (Committed to UIW, 2019 record: 8-10-1)

The leader of the Madison defense and has decided to stay local by committing to UIW. Wannamaker will join a UIW that made history and surprised many by reaching the conference tournament last season.

Taylor Wieland – Boerne Champion (Committed to Bemont, 2019 record 8-9-5)

Outstanding goalkeeper at Champion for a team that is undefeated in district and only 3 losses so far. Taylor currently has .84 Goals Against Average and 65 saves, 15 clean sheets for a team that has given up only 9 goals all season.

Emily Wissel-Littmann – Churchill (Central Arkansas, 2019 record: 5-12-1)

Second student-athlete from a San Antonio school to commit to Central Arkansas as a midfielder this year joining Alyssa Aultman from Brandeis.

Olivia Wright – Cornerstone (Committed to Texas State, 2019 record: 9-7-3)

Olivia is having an outstanding senior season with Cornerstone with 11 Goals and 15 Assists thus far. The forward/midfielder will head up the I-35 and stay close to home, and will be a nice addition to a Texas State team that made it to the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

Ashlyn Zingelmann – Brandeis (Committed to North Texas, 2019 record: 15-6-1)

The fourth quality player from Brandeis to commit to a university this year, the defender will join a Mean Green team that won the Conference USA tournament and reached the first round of the NCAA tournament. In the same conference as UTSA, should make the rivalry a little more interesting.

Boys Soccer

Wil Aguilar – LEE (Committed to UIW, 2019 record 5-12-0)

The striker for LEE was one of the most anticipated student-athletes when coming to see where he would commit. Some speculated he would head to an east coast university, but elected to stay local choosing UIW. Adding Wil to UIW’s offense will make this team dangerous to the next four years and is a player the UIW men’s program can build around.

Andrew Erickson – LEE (Committed to Kentucky, 2019 record: 13-5-3)

The Midfielder for LEE will be joining a good SEC team that made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Erickson was named as Gatorade Texas Soccer Player of the Year.

Skyler Frey – Churchill (Committed to Southwestern, 2019 Record: 10-7-2)

Churchill’s top goal scorer, team captain and SA Express new player to watch, committed to Southwestern a D III school after turning down offers Div I schools according to Churchill head coach, Justin Linthicum. Will play in the competitive SCAC conference, same as Trinity.

Jose Gallegos – Central Catholic (Committed to NC State, 2019 record: 9-7-3)

The young phenom from San Antonio FC’s ETP program, with experience with SAFC’s first squad is playing on a whole other level. Has 11 goals and 9 assists in the regular season, could be a major impact for NC State almost immediately. Jose could be an a MLS roster in a few years.

Diego Molina – Warren (Committed to Walla Walla, 2019 record: 3-15-0)

Senior goalkeeper has lead Warren to undefeated district record will be going to the great northwest to attend Walla Walla.

Tyler O’Brien – Brandeis (Committed to Schreiner, 2019 record: 3-15-1)

Tyler is a forward/midfielder that is the captain of the Brandeis squad, also named 1st Team Academic All-District, part of the SA City academy.

Francisco Segura – LEE (Committed to UIW, 2019 record: 5-12-0)

This fantastic forward that help lead LEE to the UIL State final last year and currently leading and undefeated team that is ranked 38th in the nation and 5th in the state has decided to stay local and join UIW. Segura will be joining Wil Aguilar at UIW next season and is already creating buzz for the Cardinals, the next four years are gonna be bright with this duo.

Chris “Choco” Rios-Cruz – Central Catholic (Committed to Fort Hays State, 2019 record: 13-6-2)

The Defender from Central Catholic has committed to divison II, Fort Hays State. He will be a nice addition to a team that won the GAC tournament and made it to the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament.
