Women’s college soccer: UTSA v Incarnate Word in a preseason exhibition match

The 2019 NCAA soccer preseason will start off with a inner city derby for the rights to be the queens of San Antonio. UTSA Roadrunners will face the Cardinals of Incarnate Word at Park West Athletic Complex on the campus of UTSA this Sunday, August 11th at noon.

This will be the second year in a row that UIW and UTSA face each other in women’s soccer. Last season both teams met at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium where UTSA won 6-0 on an early September evening. UTSA recorded 23 shots on goal compared to UIW’s 3. Goals were scored by Lexi Bolton (2), Ellis Patterson (2), Jordyn Lacy (1) and Tara Giessen (1).

Both teams will be looking to improve on last season’s respective records; 3-12-1 for UIW and 6-9-2 for UTSA. As the programs look to the 2019 season, both are on different paths to success; UIW will be looking to build a foundation with their youth and UTSA will rely on leadership from the seniors to take them to the next level.

Attendance and parking is free of charge.
