The San Antonio Athenians Soccer Club have been extremely busy this week with various announcements via social media. The club has revealed their new kit, new home and player announcements.
The kit’s primary color will be a deep royal purple, with white trim on the sleeves and a white diagonal stripes across the front the top. Shorts will be purple with the club crest on the right and player number on the left, Socks will be all purple.
The club announced that the kit and other club apparel will be available on their website with the kits going for $50 and T-shirts for $25. You can visit the team store here: https://www.sanantonioathenians.com/store
We asked Pete Veras, owner and operator of the Athenians a few questions about the kits:
What was the inspiration for the crest and the kit?
Athena is best known as the goddess of wisdom and war. Our club has a high soccer IQ and is ultra competitive very similar to Athena. The kit design was the brainchild of @AaronFlynn, he has a great designers mind and really does great work!
Are the kits and other apparel be available only online or will they be sold during match days and stores?
Currently we only have the purple jersey available for order online. We will have merchandise available at our first home game June 1st.
Will there be road and home jerseys?
We do have 2 jerseys that we could use interchangeably depending on home team color designation. The kits we wore on media day and the newly revealed purple one
The Athenians also made a press release announcing where their home matches will be played.
” We will be hosting our United Women’s Soccer League (UWS) matches, international friendlies, youth camps, and our future Athenians All Girl Soccer Academy at the Cibolo Multi Event Center. Located at 258 South Main Street, the facility is comprised of natural grass and a 4000 seat capacity stadium.” The press release stated. You can read the full statement in the link below.

The Athenians first announced home match of the regular season will be June 1st at 7:30 PM versus the Houston Aces and will play in the UWS this season.
