San Antonio, TX
On a night of pura Fiesta around the city, it was pura fiesta at Toyota Field as San Antonio FC won 3-0 over Tacoma Defiance. A crowd of 6,357 went home happy.
Tacoma never really had a chance in this match sitting at 2-0-6 with 6 PTS, with only 4 goals scored and none of the scorers were on the squad as they were called up to the Sounders’ MLS side versus LAFC. Tacoma also came in with a -19 goal differential. San Antonio FC’s both wins this season came at home and after a tough loss last weekend was looking for a win to start the climb up the table.
SAFC came out with a 3-4-3 formation and Eubossi made his first start. SAFC opened the scoring in the 9th minute. Brian Gomez forced a turnover on Tacoma’s Connor Drought deep in Tacoma’s third and the ball found its way to Jameison IV which calmly put it away. The second goal came in the 19th minute when Moises Hernandez made a run down the left side and burned Leftback Enrique Montana, Hernandez made down to the touchline close to the left post and was able to find Jack Barmby just outside the box. Barmby was able to take a couple touches on the ball to his left and placed a rocket towards the right post for his second on the season. Jack Barmby scored the third goal on an absolute scorcher from a similar spot outside the box that found the upper left 90. Goal was assisted by Brian Gomez. In the 59th minute Eboussi came in on poorly timed tackle with cleats up. Eboussi was called for the foul and shown a straight red, that left SAFC with 10 men for the remaining 30 minutes. However, Tacoma never threatened. SAFC got the 3 points and the win.
