UPSL Wrap Up #3 – Easter Weekend

This past week has saw some changes in the local clubs and players shine.

San Antonio Runners (3-1-0, 10 PTS)

The Runners had two matches this week and found themselves in first place in the UPSL Central Conference Heart Division. On Wednesday, the Runners traveled to Boerne to face Thunder FC. Runners came out on top in a close 1-0 win with a goal by Guilleremo Serrano. Saturday was a tough match up with Waco FC, both teams came in with an undefeated record of 3-0-0. Both teams remained undefeated after an exciting 3-3 draw and the Runners took over first in the Heat Division. Reis Woolley had a hat trick versus Waco FC.

Woolley is our player of the week with 3 goals and 1 assist in two matches.

Coach’s thoughts – “It was a hard week, we were missing a lot of our usual players, and new ones stepped up and did the job well especially without playing with some of the usual starters before… Reis did good maintaining composure and keeping his head to do his part for the team and he was able to put the ball in the net under all the stress and pressure around him so we are all very happy about that, and the growth of our players and continued team development is going great. We are continuing to get better and stronger every day! Looking forward to the rematch against waco in San Antonio on may 4th. “
