
The 2019 United Premier Soccer League kicks off this week with more than 300 clubs nationally and we have 3 UPSL men’s clubs starting this spring with Alamo CIty SC being the 4th on the way for the fall season right here in San Antonio. As popularity of the sport has grown so has the league and number of clubs in San Antonio. The UPSL and it’s clubs are members of CONCACAF and US Soccer Federation. The UPSL is also the first professional soccer league to introduce promotion – relegation to the American soccer landscape.
San Antonio Corinthians FC

The Corinthians are back after spending a couple seasons in the NPSL, highlight of the club’s NPSL days was a US Open Cup match against San Antonio FC in 2016. The Corinthians are now in the UPSL and will play its home matches at Warrior Stadium. Along with the regular season schedule the Corinthians will play a pair of high profile friendlies versus two U20 Liga MX clubs, Club Santos Laguna on April 17th and UNAM Pumas on May 12th. San Antonio Runners

The Runners are coming off an undefeated regular season, and are the defending 2018 Heart Division Champions, making it to the Conference semi-finals versus Dallas Elite FC. The Runners will be looking to improve on the 2018 season and have an inter-city derby with Samba FC who are also in the Heart Division this season. Samba FC have announced 10 players from last years squad returning including club captain Uros Ceglaj. Last year, Samba played in the South Division but with the move to the Heart Division an inter-city derby was born, Samba and Runners will match up twice this year in the “Super Clasico” which will include a match on the last day of the season at Wheatley Heights.
